Genderization in Scouting Advertisements

Chances are, you know a scout. Maybe a friend, a parent, or you are a scout. With over 5 million Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and adult volunteers in the US, scouting has become familiar to many Americans.
Despite being household names, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) have made plentiful recruitment efforts through television advertisements and public service announcements over the past 50 years.

The efforts of these single-gender organizations target parents of potential scouts by reenforcing traditional masculine and feminine stereotypes, and encourages the continuation of traditional gendered roles in society.
